The University of Texas at Austin's Harry Ransom Center is seeking a Work-Study, Student Assistant for the Archival Processing Unit on-site at UT Main Campus. The role involves assisting with archival sorting, preservation tasks, and preparing materials for researchers, with 10 hours per week against a 10 a.m.–5 p.m.

window. The position is a Fall 2026 opening, with potential continuation into Spring if the Work Study Award is renewed.

Qualifications

• Must maintain satisfactory academic progress as defined by the Office of Scholarship and Financial Aid.
• Must be enrolled in appropriate credit hours as required by the student’s academic or non-academic title.
• Must be able to work ten hours a week between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m (Monday-Friday).
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Highly detail oriented.
• Team orientation with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Interest in learning about the arts and humanities.

Responsibilities

• Sort manuscripts, letters, photographs, clippings, and other documents (archival arrangement).
• Removing paperclips and rubber bands from archival documents, removing materials from envelopes, photocopying clippings and faxes, sleeving photographs (archival preservation).
• Filing materials into archival folders and boxes, labeling folders and boxes, moving archival boxes to the collection stacks (archival preservation).
• Special projects as assigned.
