Job summary

NBBJ seeks an Architectural Specifications Writer to join our Studio N team across multiple US offices. The role involves producing contract documents, coordinating specifications with drawings and BIM, and supporting project teams from early design through construction administration.

We value applicants with 5–10 years of experience in architecture, engineering, or construction management, with proficiency in AIA MasterSpec and specification tools, MS Word, Smartsheet, and Bluebeam.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management.
• Intermediate or Senior level Writers with 5+ or 10+ years experience in architecture/engineering/construction management.
• Experience with AIA MasterSpec content and specification authoring tools.
• Proficiency with MS Word and collaboration tools (Smartsheet, Bluebeam, Mural, Teams).
• Knowledge of sustainable design practices and codes is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project teams to set goals and scopes.
• Prepare the Project Manual and coordinate the Contract Conditions.
• Coordinate specifications with drawings and BIM, and with other disciplines.
• Perform QA/QC reviews of deliverables.
• Support Construction Administration reviews and handle RFIs.
• Maintain and update firm-wide specification masters.
• Research materials and products for performance and sustainability.
• Contribute to firm-wide documentation standards and BIM coordination.
