Job summary

NBBJ is seeking an Architectural Specifications Writer to join Studio N and collaborate with project teams across the firm. You will produce and coordinate project manuals and contract documents, QA/QC deliverables, and support CD submittals and RFI processes.

Ideal candidates bring 5–10+ years in architecture/engineering with strong command of MasterSpec, BIM coordination, and sustainable materials, plus proficiency in MS Word, Smartsheet, Bluebeam, Mural, and Teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management.
• 5+ years as architect/engineer/construction manager with focus on specifications (Intermediate).
• 10+ years as architect/engineer/construction manager with focus on specifications (Senior).
• Experience with AIA MasterSpec content.
• Experience with leading specification authoring solutions (cloud-based).
• MS Word proficiency.
• Experience with Smartsheet, Bluebeam, Mural, and Teams.
• Experience researching sustainable materials and developing sustainability requirements in specifications.
• Knowledge of sustainable design credentials (LEED, WELL, ILFI, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Integrate with project teams and help set goals and scope.
• Prepare the Project Manual and coordinate the Conditions of the Contract.
• Coordinate specifications with drawings/BIM and other disciplines.
• Perform QA/QC reviews of deliverables.
• Support Construction Administration reviews of submittals, substitutions, and RFIs.
• Develop and maintain firm-wide specification masters.
• Research materials for performance and sustainability; participate in standards teams.
