Job summary

NBBJ is seeking an Architectural Specifications Writer to join Studio N on a firmwide interdisciplinary team. Open to Intermediate and Senior Writers; the role involves technical consulting and contract document production across projects, coordinating with project teams and BIM/drawings.

You will prepare project manuals and contract documents, perform QA/QC, support construction administration, and develop firm-wide specification masters.

Qualifications

• Read/interpret documents such as contracts, drawings and specifications.
• Analyze and synthesize complex or diverse information.
• Effectively communicate complex information with diverse teams.
• Broad knowledge of architectural systems, products, and installation practices.
• Experience with one or more practice areas: healthcare, science, education, commercial, civic.
• Problem solving and time management skills.
• Mentorship and collaboration in design teams.

Responsibilities

• Integrate with project teams and set direction for project goals and scope.
• Prepare the Project Manual and coordinate the Conditions of the Contract.
• Coordinate specifications with drawings, BIM, and other disciplines.
• Perform QA/QC reviews of deliverables and support construction administration.
• Balance multiple project teams and types; develop firm-wide specification masters.
• Research materials, products, and sustainability requirements; participate in standards teams.
