Job summary

ECS Group of Companies in Walnut Creek, CA seeks an experienced Specification Writer II to guide design teams on product selection, prepare and edit construction specifications, and ensure code compliance across all project phases.

The role requires strong architectural/construction background, verification of specifications, and staying current on building technologies. Excellent collaboration with architects, engineers, and consultants is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Building Science or related field preferred.
• 6 years of related architectural or commercial interiors experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of increased responsibility in writing, editing, and developing AIA MasterFormat - 3 part specifications.
• CSI membership; CDT certification a plus; CCS/LEED AP or licensed architect/engineer a plus.

Responsibilities

• Guide design teams on product selection and coordinate with architects, engineers, and consultants.
• Review drawings to write and edit specifications for projects.
• Prepare construction specifications for all project phases and reviews.
• Coordinate consultant specs with firm standards and document formatting conventions.
• Perform product research and assist with material selections.
