Job summary

Salas O’Brien seeks an Architectural Engineer with an electrical or mechanical focus to join a co-located design team in Nashville, TN, supporting a world-class, net-zero headquarters project for a leading technology company.

The role blends collaboration with architects and engineers, emphasis on sustainable design, energy efficiency, and occupant wellness, with opportunities to influence major building systems and performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering with electrical or mechanical focus.
• 3–5 years of building systems design experience in electrical, mechanical, or integrated environment.
• FE certification preferred; PE license beneficial.
• LEED or similar sustainability certification preferred.
• Experience working with architects and engineers on integrated design teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop integrated building system designs with electrical or mechanical focus.
• Provide design, evaluation, and planning for building systems across healthcare, science/tech, education, hospitality, and more.
• Coordinate design with owner requirements, architectural design, and other consultants.
• For electrical focus: design power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, data/comm, emergency power.
• For mechanical focus: design HVAC, perform load/energy calculations.
• Prepare detailed construction documents and specifications.
• Apply codes and design guidelines to projects.
• Coordinate across disciplines to advance energy efficiency and building performance.
• Provide construction administration and coordination with contractors.
