Job summary

Clark Nexsen, a JMT Company, seeks an Architectural Designer II to join our Virginia Beach team. The role independently handles architectural assignments for medium-to-large projects, applying established principles while collaborating with project teams across design development, documentation, and coordination efforts.

The position emphasizes quality control, technical guidance, and ongoing professional growth, with travel to project sites as needed.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of related architecture experience.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an NAAB accredited Architecture program.
• Proficient with computer-assisted design and graphic software such as Revit, Rhino, Enscape, Adobe Creative Cloud, AutoCAD, Sketch-Up, etc.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Understanding of basic codes and sustainability requirements.
• Knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM).
• Ability to travel and actively pursuing Professional Architect License.
• LEED AP accreditation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Apply advanced architectural concepts and design methods to develop quality design solutions.
• Prepare architectural drawings and construction documentation in accordance with established standards and codes.
• Utilize software to develop drawings, models, and visualizations to support project deliverables.
• Develop and coordinate architectural specifications to align with construction documents and technical requirements.
• Conduct code research and summarize requirements that inform design decisions, coordination, and documentation.
• Assist in development of client presentation materials and support meeting documentation and follow-up tasks.
• Perform quality control reviews throughout design phases to ensure accuracy and quality.
• Provide technical guidance to less experienced staff and participate in ongoing professional development.
