Job summary

Subway seeks a hands-on technical leader to drive the menu platform’s architecture, system modernization, and delivery. You will write code daily while guiding the team’s direction and ensuring scalable design across front-end and back-end services.

You will mentor engineers, shape the project roadmap, and push for AI-driven improvements in the build and deployment process, helping scale a high-volume consumer platform.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, including a track record of technical leadership.
• Deep experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, React, and React Native with strong opinions on front-end craft.
• Proven experience modernizing a mature application through a rewrite or re-platform.
• Hands-on experience using AI tools such as Claude to accelerate development and improve the build harness.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture and technical direction of the menu platform and key design decisions.
• Stay hands-on: write code, design, and ship alongside the team.
• Lead re-architecture of production systems, modernizing legacy services to the new TypeScript stack.
• Drive day-to-day delivery, unblock engineers, and review code.
• Grow the team technically through mentoring and code review.
• Set strategy for AI acceleration in the development loop.
