Job summary

Subway is seeking a Director, Guest Engineering to lead the full guest-facing digital stack across mobile, web, kiosk, and middleware platforms. You will set architectural direction, build a 20+ person multi-disciplinary team, and drive end-to-end delivery with significant autonomy in a fast-paced consumer environment.

You will partner with senior stakeholders to shape roadmaps, ensure platform reliability, and champion AI-assisted development across all pods.

Qualifications

Deep expertise across front-end and back-end domains to set architectural direction and align pods with product goals.
Proven experience delivering high-traffic, consumer-facing digital platforms at scale (ordering, loyalty, or commerce).
Strong command of modern front-end patterns and identity management.
Experience with AI-assisted development and tools.

Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership across all guest-facing surfaces (iOS, Android, web, kiosk) and the middleware/API platform; own multi-year roadmap.
Lead and retain Sr. Development Managers, Tech Leads, and Solution Architects across a full-stack pod model.
Partner with product and cross-functional stakeholders to define quarterly roadmap commitments and resolve blockers.
Own production operations and platform reliability; drive incident response and SLA targets.
Champion AI-assisted development and embed AI workflows in reviews, tests, and delivery practices.
Drive hiring strategy, onboarding, and technical screen standards across pods.
