Job summary

OMA New York seeks an experienced architect/designer to lead design for diverse spaces, from concept to construction. You will collaborate with project leaders to establish project concepts and narratives and coordinate with external consultants and internal teams.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in architecture, strong Rhino/AutoCAD/Revit skills, and a proven portfolio. This is a full-time position based in our New York office offering a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in architecture (5+ years post‑graduate experience).
• Strong conceptual, graphic, and design talent with a robust portfolio.
• Excellent command of Rhino and Adobe Creative Suite; strong rendering with Enscape and/or V-Ray.
• Experience with AutoCAD; BIM/Revit experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead design concepts and narratives for a range of spaces (public, commercial, hospitality, residential).
• Collaborate with project leaders and teams to establish project concepts and narratives; coordinate with consultants and internal teams.
• Produce, coordinate, and supervise technical documentation from concept through construction phases.

OMA is hiring an architect/designer to join its team in New York.

Over the past five decades, OMA has produced a broad portfolio of projects, employing a team of more than 200 architects, designers, and researchers with a diverse range of experience and expertise. AMO, a research and design studio, often works in parallel with OMA’s clients, enriching architecture with intelligence drawn from a wide range of other disciplines.

About the role

OMA New York is looking for an experienced architect/designer with a proven track record in driving the design for a diverse range of spaces, including public, commercial, hospitality and residential areas.

In this role, you will work on projects in all phases, from initial conception to final design and construction phases. We are seeking candidates who illustrate exceptional design sensibility in their work, have robust technical and communication skills and can operate at the highest level.

The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with Project Leaders and design teams to establish the concept and narrative of projects, and develop the design while leading the coordination with external consultants as well as internal teams. They will produce, coordinate and administer the technical documentation and supervision for their realization.

Demonstrated experience

• developing strong concepts, narratives and strategies into compelling designs, in consultation with the Partner-in-charge and client team
• leading projects through all phases, from programming, concept development, documentation to construction
• developing design options through 3D modeling and visualization
• considering materials and costs within predetermined budgets

Requirements

• bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture, minimum of five years post-graduate experience in architecture
• strong conceptual, graphic, and design talent illustrated in a comprehensive portfolio
• excellent command of Rhino and Adobe Creative Suite
• strong rendering skills in Enscape and/or V-Ray
• proficiency in AutoCAD
• experience working on complex, large-scale design projects in all phases
• confidence working collaboratively in a dynamic, international environment
• fluency in English

Preferred

• knowledge and experience working on BIM/Revit projects
• experience working in construction documentation phases
• licensed to practice architecture in the US or actively pursuing getting licensed
• proficiency in additional languages, notably Japanese and/or French
