Job summary

Summitbsa is seeking an enthusiastic Archery Instructor to guide participants in classroom or range settings, upholding safety and program quality within our Scout BSA archery initiatives. You will coach guests, manage equipment, and model the Scout Oath and Law while delivering engaging, high‑quality archery experiences.

This role requires USA Archery Level 1 certification (training provided), 18+ age, and comfort with Microsoft Teams.

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ years old.
• USA Archery Level 1 Instructor (training provided).
• 1+ year leading teams; Summit Employment preferred.
• Experience in competitive shooting or hunting preferred.
• Willing to become registered Scouting America member (background screening).
• Comfortable using Microsoft Teams for daily communication.

Position Overview

Instill proper knowledge, skills, and attitude with participants. Provide high quality instruction, direct leadership, and mentorship in all archery venues.

• Instructs and coaches guests in a classroom or range environment
• 100% accountability of all equipment at all times
• Maintains all equipment
• Provides guests with top-tier archery programs and completes range tasks
• Ensures range safety procedures are followed
• Model the Scout Oath and Law in daily interactions

• Maintain a clean, organized, inspected, neat, and safe work area
• Perform additional duties assigned by SBR leadership

• Abide by policies and procedures outlined in the SBR staff handbook

• Required: USA Archery Level 1 Instructor (training provided)
• Required: 1+ year leading teams, prefer 1+ year Summit Employment
• Preferred: Experience in competitive shooting or hunting, any discipline
• Willing to become a registered Scouting America member (includes background screening)
• Comfortable using Microsoft Teams for daily work-related communication

Physical & Practical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, and hike up to 9 hours daily and ability to lift/move up to 70 pounds
• Complete the Annual Health and Medical Record, including height/weight guidelines
• Housing: 10'x12' platform tent in Staff Camp | Uniform: Summit Staff Uniform | Work Hours: 45-55
