Job summary

The Summit Bechtel Reserve seeks a dedicated staff instructor to teach archery and firearms to guests, uphold range safety, and embody Scout Oath and Law during daily interactions.

This role includes maintaining a clean, safe work area, and performing duties assigned by SBR leadership. Training provided for USA Archery Level 1 and NRA certifications; housing provided in staff camp; 45-55 hour work weeks.

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ (21+ for certain certifications).
• USA Archery Level 1 Instructor (training provided).
• NRA Certified Instructor (Rifle, Pistol, Shotgun) (training provided).
• NRA Certified Range Safety Officer (21+).
• Experience in competitive shooting or hunting preferred.
• Willing to become registered Scouting America member (background screening).
• Comfortable using Microsoft Teams for daily communication.

Position Overview

Instill proper knowledge, skills, and attitude in participants. Provide high quality instruction, direct leadership, and mentorship in all shooting venues.

• Perform additional duties assigned by SBR leadership
• Abide by policies and procedures outlined in the SBR staff handbook

Qualifications

• Minimum age: 18+ or 21+ depending on certification area
• Required: USA Archery Level 1 Instructor (training provided)
• NRA Certified Instructor (Rifle, Pistol, Shotgun) (training provided)
• NRA Certified Range Safety Officer (if 21+)
• Preferred: Experience in competitive shooting or hunting, any discipline
• Willing to become a registered Scouting America member (includes background screening)
• Comfortable using Microsoft Teams for daily work-related communication

Physical & Practical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, and hike up to 9 hours daily and ability to lift/move up to 70 pounds
• Complete the Annual Health and Medical Record, including height/weight guidelines
• Housing: 10'x12' platform tent in Staff Camp | Uniform: Summit Staff Uniform | Work Hours: 45-55
