Job summary

The City of College Station is seeking a Forestry Worker to perform arboriculture tasks under supervision. You will prune, plant, remove trees on public land including parks and rights‑of‑way, and operate equipment such as a bucket truck.

This position requires a high school diploma or GED, a Texas Class B CDL (or ability to obtain in 90 days), weekend/evening/holiday availability, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. ISA Certified Arborist preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Texas Class B CDL, or the ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
  • Available to work weekends, evenings and holidays.
  • Strong manual dexterity to operate maintenance tools (chainsaws, pruning tools, sprayers, etc.).
  • Ability to perform duties in varying weather and heights; lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform tree planting and maintenance on city properties (parks, trails, cemeteries, rights-of-way).
  • Perform pruning, removal, staking, cabling, and mulching of trees; operate bucket truck and climbing equipment.
  • Inspect vehicles and equipment daily for safe operation.
  • Assist in preparing for special events as needed.
  • Conduct safety assessments of trees and identify hazards for removal or pruning.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
