Job summary

Austin Parks and Recreation is seeking an Arborist I to maintain city trees, perform pruning, removals, planting, and emergency response as part of a crew. You will operate forestry vehicles, use rigging techniques, and assist with GIS updates and safety practices.

Requirements include a high school diploma and outdoor experience, with a Texas Class C license and CDL progress within 3 months. Expect field work across multiple sites and occasional after-hours duties.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus one year outdoor experience in construction, landscaping, or tree care, which included the use of power tools or motorized equipment.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and operate safely around heavy equipment.
• Willingness to travel to multiple work sites and follow safety protocols per ANSI standards.

Responsibilities

• Works in a crew setting to complete tree planting and maintenance work orders.
• Uses rigging techniques to lower limbs and debris safely for public safety.
• Operates forestry vehicles and conducts basic vehicle inspections and maintenance.
