Job summary

The City of Maypearl is seeking a Forestry Worker to join the Operations team. Under supervision you will perform arboriculture tasks including tree planting, pruning, removal, and maintenance of trees on public lands such as parks and rights-of-way.

You will operate equipment including bucket trucks, apply pesticides as needed, assess safety of trees, and assist with events and routine fleet inspections. Weekend, evening, and holiday availability is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Valid Texas Class B CDL or ability to obtain within 90 days.
• Available to work weekends, evenings and holidays.
• Strong manual dexterity to operate pruning tools and equipment.
• Ability to work in various weather and heights; lift up to 50 lbs; operate bucket truck.

Responsibilities

• Perform tree planting and maintenance on public land including parks, trails, cemetery, and rights-of-way.
• Maintain trees with staking, cabling and mulching; prune for clearance.
• Apply low-toxicity pesticides using appropriate equipment.
• Assess safety of public trees; identify hazards and determine removal needs.
• Assist in events and daily vehicle/equipment inspections; perform other duties as assigned.
