Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company invites applications for an Arborist Trainee Internship in Canton, OH, with on-site roles in Akron and Canton. The internship runs Spring–Summer 2027 and offers hands-on field experience alongside certified arborists and landscape professionals to develop cutting-edge tree care skills.

Earn $22–$23 per hour with 40–50 hours per week, Monday through Friday and some Saturdays. CDL is a plus, and interns gain access to extensive training, equipment, uniforms and PPE

Qualifications

• Enthusiasm for proper plant care and arboriculture.
• Love of the outdoors.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Demonstrated ability to report to work regularly and punctually.
• Collaboration and communication skills.
• Studying Arboriculture, Urban Forestry, Natural Resources, Horticulture, Landscape Design, Forestry or related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Learn to be a tree doctor and work in the field alongside experienced Arborists and landscape professionals.
• Perform tree pruning, removal, cabling, bracing and maintenance.
• Assist with tree and landscape installation and safety of field equipment.
• Support Plant Health Care activities including soil care and pest management.
• Gain exposure to daily operations and business components of Davey’s Residential Tree Care office.
• Develop client service, sales, management and leadership fundamentals.
