Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company offers an Arborist Trainee Internship in Columbus, OH. This field-based program runs 40-50 hours per week, Monday through Friday with some Saturdays, at $22–$23 per hour.

Interns work alongside experienced arborists, climbers, and plant health care professionals to gain hands-on experience in tree care and client service. Join a company with 145 years of industry leadership, extensive training, and opportunities for growth across four service lines.

Qualifications

• Studying Arboriculture, Urban Forestry, Natural Resources, Horticulture, Landscape Design, Forestry or related discipline
• Driver’s license required; CDL a plus
• Enthusiasm for proper plant care and arboriculture
• Love of the outdoors and willingness to learn
• Positive attitude and punctual attendance
• Collaboration and strong communication skills

Responsibilities

• Tree pruning, removal, cabling, bracing and maintenance
• Tree and landscape installation
• Safe operation of equipment including chainsaws, chippers and related tools
• Plant Health Care: deep root fertilization, soil care and pest/disease management
• Exposure to daily operations of a residential tree care office
• Client service, sales, management and leadership fundamentals
