Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company in Canton, OH is offering an Arborist Trainee Internship for Spring–Summer 2027. You will work field-based, learning alongside seasoned Arborists and Plant Health Care professionals to deliver exceptional client service and maintain healthy trees and landscapes.

Qualifications

• Must have enthusiasm for proper plant care and arboriculture.
• Love of the outdoors and a positive attitude.
• Willingness to learn and report to work regularly and punctually.
• Collaboration and communication skills are essential.
• Studying Arboriculture, Urban Forestry, Natural Resources, Horticulture, Landscape Design, Forestry or related discipline.
• Driver’s license required; CDL is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Learn to be a tree professional—fieldwork with Arborists and climbers to deliver client service.
• Perform tree pruning, removal, cabling, bracing, and landscape installation.
• Safely operate equipment such as chainsaws and chippers.
• Support Plant Health Care, soil care, and pest/disease management tasks.
• Gain exposure to daily operations and business aspects of a Residential Tree Care office.
• Develop client service, sales, management, and leadership fundamentals.
