Job summary

Bartlett Tree Experts is seeking an experienced Arborist Crew Leader in Richmond, VA to lead a tree care crew and perform all arboriculture tasks safely and efficiently. You will supervise pruning, rigging, removals, and gear operation while mentoring team members and ensuring work meets industry standards.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of tree climbing, a valid driver's license, clean MVR, and the ability to pass a background check.

Qualifications

• At least three (3) years of tree climbing in the tree care industry.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check.
• Valid driver's license with clean MVR; Class B CDL preferred.
• Willingness to work outdoors year‑round in all weather conditions.
• Proactive, positive, team‑oriented and self‑motivated.

Responsibilities

• Safely performing and supervising all aspects of arboriculture, including pruning, cabling and bracing, rigging, and removals.
• Properly maintaining and operating equipment (hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts).
• Bringing a cooperative and enthusiastic attitude to the job site.
• Supervising and managing crews while performing tree care services as directed by the Arborist Representative and Local Manager.
• Ensuring crew members are trained for each designated job assignment.
• Ensuring all tree care work meets industry and company standards.
• Communicating with clients, answering questions, and building relationships.
• Maintaining a passion for nature, the environment, and the outdoors.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check.

As an Arborist Crew Leader, you will play an important role in
