Job summary

BrightView is seeking a Climber I to join our tree care team in California. This entry-level role involves pruning, cabling, bracing, lightning protection, and removals, supporting the crew in site prep and debris handling.

You will perform basic operations up to 60 feet, access trees safely, and operate chippers, trucks, blowers, and chainsaws. A strong work ethic and excellent communication are essential for a safe, efficient workflow.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated role-specific skills or verifiable requisite experience.
• Able to follow directions and procedures for roping and rigging, maintenance and reporting of equipment.
• Read and interpret safety rules, manuals, and work orders.
• Ability to interpret various written/oral instructions and schedules.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to perform basic math using weight, volume and distance measurements.
• Ability to estimate weight, volume and distance for arboricultural tasks.
• Strong communication skills and ability to signal with climbers for safety.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic tree care operations up to 60 feet, on ground or in trees.
• Safely access trees and move through canopies after inspections.
• Safely operate chippers, trucks and blowers.
• Handle chainsaws with ground- and canopy-based techniques.
• Use hand tools like saws, pruners, pole saws, rakes and shovels.
• Adhere to PPE requirements and company safety protocols.
• Maintain a safe, organized work zone.
• Implement plans to prevent property damage and injuries.
