Job summary

ECHO Incorporated is seeking an Accounts Receivable Specialist to own the full receivables cycle for a major account. You will ensure accurate cash applications and manage complex remittance and deduction workflows.

The role is hybrid from our Lake Zurich facility in Illinois, with 3–5 years of AR experience and solid accounting knowledge. A high attention to detail and strong communication are essential for success.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of accounts receivable experience with large retail customers.
• Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and practices.
• Experience with EDI invoices and resolving chargebacks.
• Familiarity with payment methods (ACH, wire, check, lockbox).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage high-volume transactions.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with Microsoft Business Central preferred.

Responsibilities

• Retrieve, review, and apply daily customer payments and remittance detail from the customer’s portal, EDI, and lockbox sources.
• Research customer deductions, including short-pays, chargebacks, pricing, and promotional deductions, coordinating with sales and operations.
• Submit disputes through customer portals and monitor outcomes within required windows.
• Identify recurring issues and recommend process improvements to reduce deductions and errors.
• Accurately apply A/R payments, adjustments, and journal entries in the ERP system.
• Prepare non-inventory invoices/credit memos and store them on the network server.
• Monitor the A/R shared email and respond within 24 hours.
• Assist in reconciliation of unapplied cash and maintain open deductions log.
• Prepare monthly aging, deduction, and dispute status reports for management.
• Build relationships with customer accounts payable and deductions teams.
