Job summary

Roessel Joy in Boston, MA seeks a Billing Specialist to manage the full billing and accounts receivable lifecycle, prepare client invoices, and ensure accurate, timely time and expense reporting.

You will collaborate with attorneys and internal teams to resolve discrepancies, apply cash receipts, monitor aging, and support month‑end close with AR reports; 1–5+ years of legal or professional services billing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full billing and accounts receivable process
• Prepare and distribute client invoices accurately and on a timely basis
• Review billing activity, time entries, and expense reports for accuracy
• Monitor outstanding balances and assist with collections
• Research and resolve billing discrepancies and client inquiries
• Apply cash receipts and maintain accurate client account records
• Reconcile AR accounts and assist with month-end close
• Work closely with attorneys and internal teams regarding billing issues
• Prepare AR aging reports and provide updates on outstanding balances
• Assist with billing-related projects and process improvements

Qualifications

• 1-5+ years of legal billing or professional services billing experience
• Legal or professional services billing experience required for higher end of pay range
• Strong understanding of billing, collections, cash applications, and reconciliations
• Experience working with attorneys, clients, or professional services teams preferred
• Strong Excel and accounting/billing system experience
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities

Compensation: $70K-$80K
