Job summary

The Jewish Community Center of Staten Island is seeking an on-site evening/weekend pool assistant to support lifeguards and aquatic staff, ensure safety, and deliver a high standard of service for members and staff.

You’ll cover evening shifts, help enforce safety protocols, coordinate pool activities, and serve as on-site primary contact during nights and weekends. Requires reliability, strong communication, and basic leadership abilities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in aquatics or pool operations.
• Current Lifeguard, CPR and First Aid certifications (or ability to obtain before start)
• Strong leadership and organizational skills
• Availability to work nights and weekends

Responsibilities

• Assist lifeguards and aquatic staff with evening operations.
• Support lifeguards and swim instructors during evening and weekend hours.
• Provide coverage for lifeguards and swim instructors as needed.
• Coordinate pool activities and logistics.
• Serve as a point of contact for lifeguards and aquatic staff during evening shifts.
• Monitor pool operations and ensure adherence to safety procedures and policies.
• Respond to emergencies and incidents, following established protocols.
• Support opening and closing duties for night shifts.
• Communicate with members, staff and management to maintain high service standards.

JOB SUMMARY

Provide operational and customer service support during evening and weekend pool hours to ensure a safe, clean and positive experience for all patrons and staff. This non-supervisory role requires strong initiative, effective communication skills and reliability.

ABOUT YOU

You're a dependable and organized team member who communicates clearly and remains calm under pressure. You'll provide support to aquatics staff during evening and weekend shifts, help enforce safety protocols, and serve as the primary point of contact on-site during nights and weekends. Your reliability helps ensure a smooth and safe environment for both members and staff.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Assist lifeguards and aquatic staff with evening operations.
• Support lifeguards and swim instructors during evening and weekend hours.
• Provide coverage for lifeguards and swim instructors as needed.
• Coordinate pool activities and logistics.
• Serve as a point of contact for lifeguards and aquatic staff during evening shifts.

SALARY

Part-time

Salary Range: $22 - $25 per hour (based on experience)
