Job summary

New Orleans Jewish Community Center is seeking a Full Time Aquatics Supervisor to oversee daily pool operations, safety, and member experiences at the Uptown/NOLA facility. Responsibilities include lifeguard coverage, LGI classes, chemical balance monitoring, and adherence to OSHA and ADA standards.

Qualified candidates will have a Lifeguard certification, CPR/AED/First Aid, and 5+ years in aquatics supervisory roles; CPO/LGI certifications preferred, with six-month attainment window.

Qualifications

  • Current Lifeguard certification required.
  • Current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid certification required.
  • Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification preferred, or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
  • Current Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) certification preferred, or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
  • College or University degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in an aquatics supervisory, management, and/or administrative role.
  • Experience in municipal, private, or nonprofit aquatics settings preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to create unique and competitive aquatics programs.
  • Demonstrated customer service leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Execute day-to-day operations of aquatics facilities with focus on safety and member experience.
  • Ensure patron safety by following established protocols and procedures.
  • Provide lifeguard coverage and pool party coverage when necessary.
  • Teach LGI classes for members, staff, and the community.
  • Monitor pool chemical balance and maintain accurate records per code.
  • Follow OSHA health and safety regulations and ADA standards.
  • Inspect AED/First Aid supplies and pool equipment weekly; report issues.
  • Maintain a high level of customer service and professionalism.

Job Location: Uptown Campus - New Orleans, LA 70115 Position Type: Full Time Salary Range: $18.00 - $22.00 Hourly Job Shift: Any

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Execution of day-to-day operations of the JCC aquatics facilities, with particular attention to safety, training, operational procedures, and a positive member experience.
  • Ensure the safety of all patrons by following established operational protocols and procedures.
  • Provide lifeguard coverage and pool party coverage when necessary.
  • Serve as a resource and role model for lifeguards on aquatics-related issues.
  • Assist in enforcing lifeguard staff rotations and schedules.
  • Teach LGI classes for members, staff, and the community.
  • Monitor pool chemical balance and maintain accurate records in accordance with the Model Aquatic Health Code.
  • Follow all applicable Health and Safety Regulations mandated by OSHA.
  • Maintain ADA standards and complete weekly inspections of pool lifts.
  • Inspect AED/First Aid supplies and rescue equipment every two weeks and work with the aquatics management team to resolve any issues or discrepancies.
  • Know and follow the facility Emergency Action Plan and assist or provide direct emergency care and treatment as needed.
  • Assist with preparations before and after inclement weather.
  • Complete daily safety checks of pool equipment and the surrounding pool area and report facility hazards to supervisors.
  • Assist with basic daily operations and maintenance of the aquatic facility, including daily chemical checks and the addition of pool chemicals as directed.
  • Respond promptly to member inquiries regarding private pool parties and clearly communicate offerings and guidelines.
  • Complete required paperwork to ensure pool rentals are reserved, payment is received, and events are properly staffed.
  • Monitor the environment and enforce the member code of conduct, addressing and reporting incidents to the Aquatics Manager.
  • Maintain a high level of customer service and professionalism.
  • Attend work on a regular, reliable, and punctual basis.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Schedule
  • October - April: Sunday - Thursday, 11:00 am- 7:30 pm
  • May - September: Sunday - Thursday, 9:00 am- 5:30 pm
QualificationsEducation and/or Work Experience Requirements
  • College or University degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in an aquatics supervisory, management, and/or administrative role.
  • Experience working in a variety of institutional settings, such as municipal, private, or nonprofit organizations, preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to create unique and competitive aquatics programs.
  • Demonstrated customer service leadership.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and make informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Lead by example; follow all NOJCC policies and procedures as defined in the NOJCC Handbook and as directed by Agency leadership.
Certification Requirements
  • Current Lifeguard certification required.
  • Current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid certification required.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, lift, bend, and twist regularly.
  • Ability to move about the facility and between work locations.

  • Ability to work safely in and around the pool.
  • Ability to work in an outdoor pool/deck environment and in varying temperatures and weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds.
