Job summary

The City of Poway is seeking a dynamic professional for the Poway Swim Center to oversee lifeguard and instructor staff, aquatic programs, and pool operations. You will coordinate trainings, enforce safety policies, and manage basic facility maintenance while delivering exceptional service to the community.

Experience in lifeguarding and swim instruction is essential, with preferred credentials in Lifeguard Instructor and Water Safety Instructor.

Qualifications

• Two years lifeguarding experience with one year swim instruction.
• Completion of 12th grade; college coursework in recreation or related field; an Associate degree preferred.
• Lifeguard Instructor, Water Safety Instructor, Lifeguarding, and First Aid/CPR certificates required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate day-to-day aquatic operations and staff for pools and programs.
• Plan, schedule, and evaluate staff; oversee Learn to Swim courses and class placements.
• Recruit, train, and supervise staff; maintain safety and facility policies.
• Prepare budgets, process purchase orders, and monitor expenditures.
• Respond to incidents, conduct safety drills, and ensure regulatory compliance.
