Job summary

Qualifications

• Previous paid or volunteer lifeguard experience desirable.
• Must be at least 16 years old and completion of 12th grade desirable.
• Valid class C driver’s license or arrange alternate transportation as needed.
• Possess and maintain a current American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification or enroll and certify by time of hire.
• Possess and maintain a current American Red Cross First Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer or enroll and certify by time of hire.
• Possess and maintain a First Aid for Public Safety Personnel (Title 22) certificate or obtain within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Act as lifeguard during pool hours and events; administer minor first aid.
• Enforce City policies, pool rules, and procedures.
• Assist patrons with information in person and by phone.
• Test and maintain pool water chemistry and perform routine maintenance.
• Perform basic first aid and CPR as necessary.
• Maintain logs, records, and cashiering duties; support City programs and events.
• Lead and conduct recreation activities and assist with rentals and community events.
• Respond to emergencies decisively and document incidents for supervisor and parents.
