Job summary

Town of Berthoud is seeking an Aquatics Coordinator to oversee the Berthoud Recreation Center's pools, splash pad, and staff. You will supervise 40–50 part-time staff, coordinate scheduling, training, and safety programs, and ensure high standards of service and safety.

The role involves maintaining pool systems, teaching swim programs, and collaborating with the Aquatics Supervisor to ensure smooth operations and guest satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in recreation or related field, or equivalent years of experience.
• 2–4 years of lifeguard experience required.
• 2–4 years of supervisory experience required.
• Experience in pool chemistry and pool maintenance is required.
• Knowledge of American Red Cross policies and lifeguarding methods and techniques is preferred.
• Experience with recreation software is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise 40-50 part-time aquatic staff, including lifeguards, swim instructors, coaches, and slide attendants.
• Assist in scheduling aquatic staff and maintaining proper coverage at all times.
• Monitor safe and efficient staffing levels during working hours.
• Coach temporary staff to improve job performance, safety standards, and customer service.
• Oversee hiring, training, and onboarding of aquatic staff members.
• Direct oversight of swim programs and teach swim lessons; coordinate with operations for success of aquatic area.
• Promote and participate in a safety-conscious environment.
• Maintain logs and records for staffing and safety checks.
• Supervise the aquatic facility and programs and handle staff relations with supervisors.
