Job summary

The Aquatic/Recreation Program Coordinator is a hands-on role at the Derry Township Community Center, spending the majority of hours lifeguarding, supervising lifeguard and swim lesson staff, delivering aquatics training, and providing operational support to the Aquatic Specialist. The coordinator also aids in maintaining pool safety and cleanliness and records pool chemistry.

Hours are flexible and may include evenings, holidays, and weekends; summer duties vary based on facility needs.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Certification in American Red Cross Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR/AED required before start date.
American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Active Lifeguarding during assigned shifts with constant patron surveillance and emergency response.
Supervise lifeguards and swim lesson staff, ensure proper coverage and provide feedback.
Assist in in-service training, drills, and staff development for lifeguards and instructors.
Provide operational and administrative support to the Aquatic Specialist, including recordkeeping and incident documentation.
Maintain pool area safety and cleanliness, report accidents/incidents promptly.
