Job summary

Greater Austin YMCA is seeking an Aquatics Director to lead all aquatics operations at our center, shaping programming, safety, staffing, and member experience. You will manage lifeguards and swim instructors, drive program quality, ensure regulatory compliance, and grow teams through coaching and mentorship.

In this role you will partner with the Impact Team, oversee budgeting, and lead safety audits while creating an inclusive, service-driven culture that aligns with the YMCA mission.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Recreation Management, Business Administration, or related field.
• 2–3 years of leadership experience in aquatics, recreation, youth development, or related field.
• Demonstrated ability to recruit, coach, develop, and retain high-performing leaders while fostering accountability.
• Experience overseeing budgeting, payroll, and financial management practices.
• Current certifications in BLS, CPR-PRO, First Aid, Lifeguarding, and Swim Instruction; CPO certification within three months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Lead the creation and rollout of engaging aquatics programs addressing community needs and member satisfaction.
• Manage staff scheduling, coaching, and performance to achieve department goals.
• Oversee budgeting, payroll, safety audits, and regulatory compliance across aquatics operations.
• Ensure accurate aquatics information across platforms and timely responses to member inquiries.
• Foster a culture of safety, service, and accountability while building strong community partnerships.
