Job summary

The Greater Austin YMCA is seeking an Aquatics Director to lead all aquatics operations at the center, including programming, safety, staffing, and member experience. You will guide swim instructors, lifeguards, and frontline staff while fostering a culture of safety, service, accountability, and growth.

The role emphasizes team development, data-driven program improvements, budgeting, and collaboration with the Impact Team to advance the YMCA’s mission in our community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Recreation Management, Business Administration, Sports Management, Nonprofit Management, Human Services, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience supervising and developing teams in aquatics, recreation, youth development, or related field.
• Experience overseeing program operations, scheduling, safety compliance, and risk management.

Responsibilities

• Lead aquatics program development and rollout to meet community needs and enhance member satisfaction.
• Evaluate program effectiveness and implement data-driven improvements.
• Recruit and develop a high-performing aquatics team and ensure staff are aligned with organizational goals.
• Manage department payroll and oversee safety audits ensuring certifications are up-to-date.
• Oversee budgets for aquatics programs and monitor expenses.
• Respond to member inquiries and engage with the community to improve retention.
• Coordinate programming and events through digital channels to maximize visibility.
