Job summary

The Greater Wichita YMCA is seeking an Aquatic Director to lead the branch's Aquatics department, including operations, staff, budget, fundraising and the member experience. This full-time role requires a 40-hour week and a strong commitment to the YMCA mission.

The position emphasizes staff development, safety training, program quality, and ensuring lifeguard coverage across pools. You will drive enrollment and engage members while maintaining compliance with health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 21.
• Minimum one year experience managing a department’s budget, staffing, performance, and supervision of staff.
• Relevant experience in aquatics.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule and manage a high performing staff focused on service.
• Ensure adequate lifeguard coverage of all pools during operating hours.
• Conduct lifeguard, swim lesson instructor and safety certification trainings.
• Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
• Build and expand program enrollment and participation.
• Maintain records of attendance, retention, and reports to supervisor.
