Job summary

YMCA of Greater Boston is seeking an Aquatics Director at the Charlestown YMCA to oversee all facets of the Aquatics Department. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and YMCA Lifeguarding certification with 2+ years in aquatic program management.

You will hire and train staff, ensure safety standards, manage schedules, and collaborate with the Aquatics Team to deliver high-quality programs for the community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• At least 21 years of age with YMCA Lifeguarding certification.
• If Red Cross certified, cross over to YMCA certification within six months of hire.
• At least two years experience in instruction and management of aquatic programs.
• Experience supervising staff and developing pool schedules and class schedules.
• Knowledge of YMCA trends in aquatic management and certifications.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and oversee aquatic programs including Lifeguarding, lessons, Family Swim, Rentals and Swim Programs.
• Ensure pools meet health and safety standards, test water chemistry and maintain a clean environment.
• Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate instructors and lifeguards; ensure certifications are on file.
• Lead in Aquatics Team activities and follow safety guidelines.
• Prepare payroll reports and monitor registrations and participant records.
• Attend staff, leadership, and board meetings; engage with members to support goals.
