Job summary

YMCA of Greater Boston seeks an Aquatics Director for Parkway to supervise all facets of the Aquatics Department. The role leads lifeguarding, instruction, safety, and program development at the Parkway YMCA.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree, YMCA Lifeguarding certification, and 2+ years in aquatic program management, with weekend/evening availability and travel as needed. Competitive salary with full benefits is offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• YMCA Lifeguarding certification.
• If Red Cross certified, cross over to YMCA certification within six months of hire.
• At least two years experience in instruction and management of Aquatics programs and pool maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and oversee aquatic programs reflecting community needs and YMCA standards.
• Ensure pools meet health and safety standards with proper testing and balance.
• Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate instructors and lifeguards; ensure staff certifications.
• Be an active participant of the Association Aquatics Team and follow safety guidelines.
• Complete required safety and quality documentation and drills on schedule.
• Provide leadership in EAP and safety training including CPR, First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen.
• Prepare payroll reports for Metro office.
• Monitor registrations and participant records and certifications.
• Maintain a professional image and YMCA mission alignment.
• Attend staff, leadership, and board meetings and engage with members to meet goals.
• Assist in other program areas as needed; Aquatics remains primary responsibility.

Education

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university

YMCA Lifeguarding certification

Red Cross certification to YMCA certification within six months

Two years experience in Aquatics instruction and management
