Job summary

YMCA of Silicon Valley in Mountain View is seeking an Aquatics Director to lead staff, develop high-quality swim programs, and drive safety and participant experience. The role requires coordinating lifeguard teams, swim lessons, lap swimming and youth programs while supporting annual fundraising efforts.

You will recruit and train lifeguards, manage branch aquatics activities, assist with events, and ensure compliance with YMCA policies to maintain a safe environment for all swimmers and staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree or 1 year of aquatic experience.
• Ability to interact effectively with participants, parents and staff.
• Available on weekends and evenings as needed.
• Certifications must be current at hire: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, Standard First Aid, Lifeguard, and ARC Lifeguard Instructor where noted.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, train, coach and lead lifeguards; ensure staff maintain certifications.
• Manage and implement aquatics programming for the branch (swim lessons, lap swim, teams, etc.).
• Assist with Branch events and Annual Giving Campaign.
• Build positive relationships with participants and parents.
• Follow YMCA Aquatics SOP Manual; maintain a safe environment at all times.
• Attend training and meetings; perform other duties as assigned.
