Job summary

YMCA of San Diego County seeks an Aquatics Director to lead the comprehensive Aquatics program, aligning safety, lessons, lifeguarding, and specialty classes with organizational goals. You will oversee audits, program development, and budgeting while guiding staff and maintaining high service standards.

You will manage daily operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and collaborate with volunteers and the public to promote healthy aquatic programming.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Education, or related field, or equivalent experience in aquatics.
• 3+ years' aquatic supervisory experience required.
• Current CPO certification within 60 days of employment.
• Must have current certifications in First Aid for Public Safety Personnel, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, Oxygen Administration, Lifeguard Certification, and Swim Lesson Instructor Certification.

Responsibilities

• Manages all functions of the Aquatics Department including safety, pool mechanics, swim lessons, lifeguarding, and special classes.
• Audits pool systems and equipment; ensures water quality meets codes and regulations; monitors chemical balance.
• Assists in development and implementation of new programs and budgets; conducts monthly staff meetings focusing on safety and customer service.
• Acts as Manager-on-duty when needed and helps maintain safe, clean facilities; communicates effectively with the public, staff, and volunteers.
