Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas is seeking an experienced Aquatics Director to oversee Coppell and Cross Timbers aquatic programs, including swim lessons, competitive swimming, and safety initiatives. You will supervise the Associate Aquatics Director and lead a large team of lifeguards, instructors, and coaches to deliver high-quality experiences for members and participants.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of progressive aquatics leadership experience with staff supervision, program development, budget management, and responsibility for a large or multi-site aquatic operation.
• Demonstrated experience leading high-volume swim lessons and competitive swim programs preferred.
• Proven ability to recruit, train, supervise, and retain lifeguards, swim instructors, swim coaches, and aquatic leadership staff.
• Strong communication, customer-service, organizational, financial-management, and problem-solving skills.
• YMCA certifications required or must be obtained within 60 days of employment; trainer-level certification preferred.
• Ability to respond effectively to aquatic emergencies and work a flexible schedule; ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and day-to-day leadership for aquatics operations at Coppell and Cross Timbers locations.
• Directly supervise and develop the full-time Associate Aquatics Director.
• Recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate lifeguards, instructors, coaches, and staff.
• Maintain staffing levels for programs, pool schedules, and operating hours.
• Lead growth of the swim-lesson program and competitive swim team with 200+ athletes.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate aquatic programs meeting community needs and drive retention.
• Manage budgets, revenue, payroll, enrollment, and operating expenses.
• Ensure compliance with policies, certification requirements, and safety procedures.
• Maintain staff certifications, emergency plans, drills, and documentation.
• Collaborate with Association Aquatics leadership to standardize programs and operations.
• Build relationships with members, families, partners, and branch leadership.
• Promote aquatic programs to members and the surrounding community.
• Assess facility and equipment needs and coordinate repairs or improvements.
