Job summary

YMCA of Middle Tennessee is seeking an Aquatics Director 2 to lead lifeguards and aquatic staff, ensure safe, high-quality programs, and foster a welcoming pool environment on the Nashville campus.

You’ll develop swim lessons, certifications, and uphold the Y core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility while aligning with the organization’s safety standards and community impact.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's degree preferred).
• Experience: 1,600 hours of lifeguarding plus 4 years of direct aquatic teaching.
• Skills: Strong leadership, organization, and communication.

Pay Range: $58207 per year to $72,759 (depending on experience)

We’re on the lookout for our next Aquatics Director!

At the YMCA of Middle Tennessee, water is more than just a pool-it’s where community happens. As our Aquatics Director 2 , you’ll lead the charge in making our aquatic programs safe, high-quality, and fun for everyone who dives in. From lifeguards to swim lessons, you’ll ensure our teams and programs shine while keeping safety and excellence front and center.

What you’ll be doing:

• Leading, inspiring, and supporting a team of lifeguards and aquatic staff
• Keeping our pool environments safe, clean, and welcoming
• Building programs that make a splash-from swim lessons to certifications
• Modeling the Y's core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility

What we’re looking for:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's degree preferred)
• Experience: At least 1,600 hours of lifeguarding plus 4 years of direct aquatic teaching
• Skills: Strong leadership, organization, and communication chops

Certifications (we'll help you with these):

• American Red Cross Lifeguard (before day one)
• Certified Pool Operator within 6 months
• Lifeguard Instructor within 12 months
• Adult Mental Health First Aid within 6 months
