Job summary

The YMCA of Middletown is seeking an Aquatics Director to lead and expand our aquatics programs, oversee lifeguard and swim instruction, and manage a busy calendar of community events. You will drive program quality, safety compliance, and staff development while partnering with leadership to enhance member experience.

• Bachelor’s degree or minimum 3 years’ leadership experience required.
• Ability to obtain Background/Child Abuse clearances and training immediately upon hire.
• Advanced knowledge of aquatic best practices, operations and trends.
• Experience driving revenue and managing expenses.
• Experience in fundraising and individual gift solicitation and cultivation.

Responsibilities

• Directs and supervises program activities to meet member and Y needs, including camps and rentals.
• Establishes new programs/activities and expands offerings as needed.
• Directs swim lessons and lifeguard coverage daily; teaches First Aid/CPR classes.
• Provides in-service trainings for aquatics staff.
• Develops and monitors department budget to meet financial objectives.
• Recruits, hires, trains, schedules and evaluates staff and volunteers.

Salary Range: $63,000.00- $65,000.00

Qualifications

• Must have current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, Lifeguard, LGI, Standard First Aid, O2 administration, Lifeguard and extensive Swim Lesson experience.

Essential Functions

• Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the members and the Y. This includes summer day camp, birthday parties and group rentals.
• Establishes new programs/activities and expands program offerings as needed.
• Conduct swim lessons and lifeguard on a daily basis. Teach First Aid and CPR training classes for members and staff as scheduled.
• Provide in-service trainings for aquatics department on a regular basis.
• Work closely with Association Aquatics Director and branch leadership to ensure the best Member experience possible.
• Assist in various Y and community events, and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations.
• Assist with annual fundraising campaign through events, staff and donor participation.
• Updateseasonalpoolscheduleandprogramsessioninformation.
• Maintain accurate department records for vendors and staff.
• Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule and direct personnel and volunteers as needed.
• Reviewandevaluatestaffperformance.
• Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
• Ensure records of staff certifications are current and complete.
• Monitors programs for quality and ensures the safety of all participants.
• Monitor daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local, and YMCA health and safety regulations.
• Conductandensurepropermaintenanceofpools.
• Maintainaccuraterecordsofpoolchemicallevelsandfacilitymaintenance.
• Ensurefirstaidequipmentandsuppliesarestockedanduptodate.
• Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information for aquatics department and for the branch.
• Develops and monitors the program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
• Respondstoallmemberandcommunityinquiriesandcomplaintsinatimelymanner.
• Attend all required meetings and trainings.
• All other duties as assigned by supervisor.
