Job summary

YMCA of Central Massachusetts is seeking an Aquatics Coordinator to support the operation and administration of all aquatic programs at the facility and within the community, under the supervision of the Aquatics Director.

The role includes hiring and training staff, coaching, scheduling private and group lessons, teaching lifeguard certification classes, and maintaining safety standards per YMCA guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred and/or at least 2 years of experience in the aquatic field (lifeguarding and swim instruction).
  • At minimum, 1 year of experience in supervision.
  • Requires completion and maintaining certification as Lifeguard.
  • Strong communication and human relation skills in dealing with staff and members are essential. This position requires decision making skills, as it relates to aquatic safety and the efficient operation of the aquatic area.
  • Possess and maintain CPR, AED and First Aid Certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the highest member service standards are constantly maintained in the aquatic department.
  • Assist with implementation and supervision of all aquatic programs and collaborations ensuring the highest quality and adherence to YMCA standards.
  • Actively cover both lifeguarding and teaching shifts as needed for call outs.
  • Ensure the highest standards for aquatic safety, including Department of Public Health standards, are constantly maintained.
  • Ensure the Character Development and YMCA focus areas are implemented in the aquatic department and programs.
  • Play an active leadership role in the branch’s Annual Campaign, assist leadership in the successful completion of the campaign and other related special events and activities
  • Attend Aquatic Mission Impact Team meetings and other required meetings within the Branch and Association.
  • Assume responsibility for the physical upkeep of the pool and department.
  • Assist in any and all branch programs and activities at the request of the Aquatic Director.
  • Teach lifeguard certification classes as necessary.
  • Cover coaching shifts as necessary.
  • Assist in private swim lesson registration and group lesson scheduling.

Job description

Job Type:

Part-Time (Non-Exempt)

Schedule:

20-25hrs/week. Hours may vary depending on department's needs. Please tell us your availability!

Pay:

$18.00/hour Plus, access to YMCA facilities for all YMCA employees, Employee Assistance Program, and Sick Leave
