Job summary

Serenity Aquarium & Aviary Services, based in Newark, NJ, is seeking an entry-level, part-time technician to service aquariums and aviaries in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. The role requires basic knowledge of hand tools, physical effort, and reliable transportation.

Expect 20–50 hours per month (5–12 hours weekly) with a flexible schedule between 8am and 7pm. Travel within a 150-mile radius is expected, with mileage reimbursement provided.

Our customers look to us to create a very serene and engaging environment for their residents/customers to enjoy. This particular role will primarily be servicing of aquariums and aviaries in nursing homes and assisted livings facilities. This is an entry level position that requires basic knowledge of hand tools and assembly. heavy lifting, bending, and many physical demands are involved in the position. This is a part-time position. Work is typically done during business hours of 8am to 7pm but is flexible. Hours will vary from month to month but will average around 20-50 hours a month or 5-12 per week. Depending on what accounts are due and travel distance.

*Travel in a 150 mile radius of Newark, NJ will be required. Furthest accounts are Galloway, NJ 102 MI & Wappingers Falls, NY 77 MI (Mileage reimbursement is paid while driving. Hourly Wage is not paid during driving).

*Due to work being performed in long term care homes, masking/goggles may be required.

Storing 50# bags of bedding and seed along with 4-5 27 gallon totes of supplies will be required for the job.

Required education, skills, abilities, and experience

• Experience in fish keeping and or bird keeping preferred

• Ability to successfully communicate and contribute in a team oriented environment.
• Must have the ability to comprehend and follow instructions and to read and write in English.
• Preference given to candidates with mechanical aptitude.
• Willingness to be flexible with schedule and job responsibilities.
• Able to travel in your service area radius
• Heavy lifting and maneuvering is required.
• Flexibility is a must!
• High School education is preferred.
• Driver’s License required

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20-50 hours a month or 5-12 per week. Will vary some from week to week.
