Job summary

Serenity Aquarium & Aviary Services is seeking an entry-level part-time technician to service aquariums and aviaries in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. The role requires basic hand-tool skills, heavy lifting, and a strong work ethic. Expect 8–15 hours per month with a flexible schedule and mileage reimbursement for local travel.

Travel within a 100-mile radius of Alexandria, VA is required. Pay starts at $25.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• Experience in fish keeping or bird keeping preferred.
• Must be willing to learn and flexible with schedule.
• Strong work ethic, punctuality, and good attendance.
• Ability to read/write English and follow instructions.
• Able to travel within service area and lift 50+ lbs.

Our customers look to us to create a very serene and engaging environment for their residents/customers to enjoy. This particular role will primarily be servicing of aquariums and aviaries in nursing homes and assisted livings facilities. This is an entry level position that requires basic knowledge of hand tools and assembly. heavy lifting, bending, and many physical demands are involved in the position. This is a part-time position. Work is typically done during business hours of 8am to 7pm but is flexible. Hours will vary from month to month but will average around 8-15 hours a month. Hours will vary depending upon what is due for service.

*Travel in a 100 mile radius of Alexandria, VA will be required. Current furthest accounts are Fredrick and Easton, MD. (55&80 miles)

Mileage reimbursement is paid while driving. Hourly Wage is not paid during driving

*Due to work being performed in long term care homes, masking/goggles may be required.

Storing 50# bags of bedding and seed along with 4-5 27 gallon totes of supplies will be required for the job.

Required education, skills, abilities, and experience

• Experience in fish keeping and or bird keeping preferred

• Ability to successfully communicate and contribute in a team oriented environment.
• Must have the ability to comprehend and follow instructions and to read and write in English.
• Preference given to candidates with mechanical aptitude.
• Willingness to be flexible with schedule and job responsibilities.
• Able to travel in your service area radius
• Heavy lifting and maneuvering is required.
• Flexibility is a must!
• High School education is preferred.
• Driver's License required
