Minimum Qualifications:
Valid License as an APRN by the State of Arkansas and National Board Certification for Nurse-Midwifery are required by the start date.
DEA license must be obtained after hire.
Demonstrated communication (written and oral) problem-solving, leadership and collaborative skills, strong patient advocacy and patient education skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience as a nurse-midwife
Experience working in an academic medical center
Additional Information:
Responsibilities:
Provide clinical midwifery and well woman health services for patients.
Evaluate and manage care of low to moderate risk (antepartum, postpartum, well-woman) patients in the clinic setting
Evaluate and manage care of antepartum and postpartum women who present to the acute care triage unit of Labor and Delivery.
Evaluate and manage the labor and birth of low to moderate risk patients in labor or for induction of labor and delivery
Evaluate and manage the immediate postpartum care of low to
moderate risk mothers
Provides instruction for medical students, nurses, student nurse practitioner and nurse midwife students in the clinical setting, simulation labs, and classroom presentations.
Participate in midwifery student interviews and performance evaluations
Collaborate with other health care providers.
Serve as a health care resource interdisciplinary
consultant
Initiate consults, co-management or referrals of moderate to high risk cases with the Obstetrician-Gynecologist, Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialists and interdisciplinary teams as indicated by the health needs of the patient
Facilitate timely and appropriate consultations or referrals to appropriate health care providers as indicated by the health needs of the patient
Participate in research initiatives led by the Women and Infants Service Line
When required, complete and maintain research training every 3 years through the CITI program (Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative)
Conducts research activities according to institutional policies, standards and study protocols
Participate in self-evaluation, peer review and quality assurance measures
Review medical, nursing and midwifery research and data to provide evidenced based and quality care
Participate and contributes to the review and revision of practice guidelines and policies for nurse-midwives
May performs other duties as assigned
