Employment Qualifications

Must be certified as a Registered Dietitian by the American Dietetic Association. Bachelor's degree in foods and nutrition and one to two years of supervised practice experience in foods and nutrition. Previous experience in health promotion and/or cardiac rehabilitation programs. Must demonstrate appropriate knowledge of the principles of growth and development from adult through the geriatric stage of the life span. Certified in Basic Life Support.

Essential Job Functions

• Develop and implement the nutritional component of programs offered through the Cardiac Wellness Center and Heart Vascular Institute, including curriculum development, evaluation, and modification based on evidence-based information.
• Schedule, cancel, reschedule, and block appointments using the online scheduler.
• Provide one-on-one nutrition consultations, document visits in medical records, and notify referring physicians.
• Assess patient nutritional status, determine age-specific and disease-specific requirements, and provide appropriate care.
• Use effective interviewing methods, review medical records, and collaborate with medical staff.
• Set and evaluate nutrition goals tailored to each patient, considering age, disease, cultural needs, and learning style.
• Document patient progress, update nutrition prescriptions, and communicate with the healthcare team.
• Identify patients needing additional counseling and follow-up, and participate in team meetings and program development.
• Participate in hospital, community, and professional education programs.
• Assist with clinical tasks such as measuring vital signs and using medical equipment as needed.

Other Job Functions

• Schedule appointments for nutrition, education, or exercise visits.
• Enter charges for services and participate in quality assurance activities.
• Use computer programs to track participation and outcomes.
• Monitor refrigerator temperatures and assist in daily clinic operations.

Working Conditions

The position is a Monday-Friday day shift, with possible evening hours for clinics and events. The role involves exposure to communicable diseases, requiring universal precautions and protective equipment.
