Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) is seeking an Apprenticeship Coordinator to support the Manufacturing, Construction & Transportation pathway. The role ensures day-to-day operations for apprenticeship programs, supports students, faculty, and external partners, and drives program growth through recruitment and grant exploration.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in related field with 3 years of post-secondary apprenticeship experience.
  • Administrative experience in apprenticeship programs such as Youth/Pre- Apprenticeship or Registered Apprenticeship.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with registration services to monitor student schedules and tuition payments.
  • Act as primary contact for unions, external sponsors, WTCS, and MATC faculty/staff.
  • Maintain apprentice contracts, progress records, cancellations, grades, and graduation documents.
  • Design and execute recruitment strategies for youth and pre-apprenticeship programs; explore grants.
  • Prepare confidential documents and reports; support division operations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to foster positive relationships and continuous learning.

Under the direction of the Associate Dean of Manufacturing,Construction & Transportation (MCT) & Apprenticeship, theApprenticeship Coordinator performs administrative and operationalfunctions for the apprenticeship programs at MATC. This role isresponsible for ensuring the seamless execution of day-to-dayoperations for students, faculty, and external partners. TheCoordinator bridges the gap between internal academic departmentsand external stakeholders-including trade unions, employers, theWisconsin Technical College System (WTCS), and the Bureau ofApprenticeship Standards (BAS). The coordinator is responsible formaintaining strict regulatory compliance, managing student progressand administrative records, resolving scheduling and registrationissues, and actively driving program growth through recruitmentinitiatives and grant exploration.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
  • Student & Faculty Support: Coordinate withregistration services to monitor and assist with student schedules,monitor tuition payments, facilitate contracts and sponsorships.Work in collaboration with students and faculty to resolve academicor classroom-related issues to ensure apprentice success.Coordinate with the Scholarship and Sponsorship department toassist with sponsorship requests or issues.
  • Relationship Management & Collaboration: Act as theprimary point of contact for trade unions, external apprenticeshipsponsors, the Wisconsin Technical College system (WTCS), and MATCfaculty/staff, fostering clear communication and promptproblem-solving. Ensure effective communication to maintain aneffective recruitment and promotion system for apprenticeship atMATC. Facilitate regular check-ins with all sponsors and leadfaculty within the apprenticeship programs at MATC.
  • Compliance & Record Keeping: Ensure strict adherenceto State Bureau of Apprenticeship Standards (BAS) and the WisconsinTechnical College System (WTCS) requirements, attend mandatorystate meetings, and meticulously maintain apprentice contracts,apprentice progress tracking documents, cancellations, grades, andgraduation records.
  • Recruitment & Program Growth: Partner withleadership to design and execute recruitment strategies targetingyouth apprenticeship, pre-apprenticeship, and registeredapprenticeship prospects, while exploring grant opportunities tosupport program longevity.
  • Operational Support: Prepares correspondence, memos,minutes, reports and other complex, technical and/or confidentialdocuments. Oversees the preparation of a variety of other materialsto include correspondence, documents, reports, proposals, charts,data collection, or memos from rough draft or
  • recordings.
  • Collaborative Teamwork: Establishes, maintains, andenhances positive work relationships with staff, faculty, andadministrators.
  • Continuous Learning & Professional Development:Maintains current knowledge of best practices and standards inhigher education with an emphasis on community Colleges. Activelyorganizes and/or participates in applicable workgroups, trainings,workshops, seminars, committees and professional associations orconferences to promote continuous learning.
  • Other duties: Perform other related duties within thescope of the position as required for the efficient operation ofthe division and to support institutional objectives.
Qualifications

Compliance with all state, federal, and accreditationstandards/requirements, as well as all MATC policies andprocedures.

Required Education & Experience

Associate’s degree inrelated field and three (3) years experience in post-secondaryeducation apprenticeship programs. Administrative experiencerelated to apprenticeship programs like Youth Apprenticeship,Certified Pre-Apprenticeship or Registered Apprenticeship.

Preferred Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree andmore than three (3) years related experience.

Supplemental Information
Start Date

This position supports the Manufacturing, Construction, andTransportation (MCT) Pathway and is available starting as soon aspossible.

Hours

This position is a 1.0 FTE or 40 hours per work week. Hours areMonday through Friday from 8am - 4:30pm. This position works out ofthe MATC Oak Creek Campus primarily, but will require occasionaltravel to meet with local external partners.

Salary

Salary is listed to the midpoint of the salary range and is basedon the 2026/2027 rates and are determined by years of experiencecredit and internal salary equity.
