Job summary

Joplin R 8 School District is seeking a part-time FTC Apprentice – Technology Support Specialist at Franklin Technology Center in Joplin, MO. The apprentice will assist with installation, maintenance, testing and repair of technology systems under supervision.

Candidates must be enrolled in the CIS program and possess knowledge of computer systems, hardware, networking, and software, with strong communication skills and willingness to learn. Reports to the IT Directors and FTC staff.

Qualifications

• Student must be in good standing with the Computer Information Systems Program at Franklin Technology Center.
• Knowledge of computer systems, software, hardware, networking, and communications.
• Ability to perform routine preventive maintenance on systems software, applications, hardware, networking, and communications.
• Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of focus.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic problem solving on software applications and hardware systems.
• Provide individual instruction and/or training to users on new technologies.
• Performs routine technical assistance and maintenance duties.
• Documents projects and processes.
• Tracks inventory levels of equipment, materials, and software.
• Troubleshoots and resolves basic system hardware and software issues.
• Assists with installation, configuration and maintenance of computers and devices.
• Maintains knowledge of technology, equipment, laws and standards.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
