Job summary

Chain Electric Company is seeking an entry-level Apprentice C to safely perform skilled electrical work in distribution systems, both overhead and underground. The role emphasizes learning apprenticeship skills and preparing to advance to journeyman level while supporting groundman and other crew members.

As an apprentice, you will follow standard trade practices, learn to operate equipment, and contribute to construction, maintenance and restoration tasks under supervision.

Qualifications

• Regular attendance and punctuality.
• Travel on short notice, anytime.
• Available for irregular hours, weekends and holidays.
• Possess valid driver's license.
• Possess your own tools.
• Physically demanding construction duties in harsh weather.
• Ability to read and follow instructions.
• Lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Depth and distance vision with color differentiation.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation, operation, maintenance and repair of overhead and underground electrical power lines and systems.
• Climb poles or use truck-mounted buckets to access equipment and work at heights.
• Construct, maintain and repair electrical distribution systems and substations.
• Verify proper grounding of truck.
• Identify defective devices using diagrams and testing instruments.
• String conductors and cables between poles, towers, trenches, pylons and buildings.
• Attach cross-arms, insulators and equipment to poles.
• Dig holes and set poles using cranes and power equipment.
• Cut trenches for underground cables and lay underground cables.
• Splice cables and connect to overhead lines using hand tools and soldering.
