Job summary

The City of Siloam Springs is seeking an apprentice to assist Linemen and Journeymen while learning maintenance, construction, repair and operation tasks on electrical power lines and transformers to keep service in good condition.

The role involves classroom study and field training across apprenticeship steps, with opportunities to work with line trucks, streetlight installations, underground cable work, and transformer maintenance. CDL eligibility may be pursued as part of the progression.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED and at least one year as Groundman.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and maintenance instructions.
• Willingness to learn apprenticeship steps and perform field tasks.

Responsibilities

• Completes class work and field training in apprenticeship steps.
• Assists Lineman in service line changes and transformer work.
• Uses power winches, booms, reels, and pole hole diggers for construction.
• Operates line trucks for Journeyman Lineman in repair and construction.
• Installs and maintains streetlight fixtures, poles, and control equipment.
• Strings wire and installs underground cable and connectors.
• May work after hours or standby as assigned by the Superintendent.
• Other duties as needed.
