Job summary

City of Forest City is seeking a Journeyman Lineman or Apprentice Lineman with at least one year of power line schooling. This full-time position offers benefits and a 7:00 AM–3:30 PM schedule with rotating on-call duties.

Responsibilities include construction and repair of overhead and underground distribution systems, operation of line trucks, digger derrick, skid loader, trencher, backhoe, and other equipment; forestry and vegetation management; emergency response requiring arrival within 15

Qualifications

• Performs work in construction and repair of electric overhead and underground distribution systems.
• Operates line trucks, digger derrick, skid loader, trencher, backhoe, and other equipment.
• Works on overhead and underground electric distribution systems.
• Forestry and vegetation management work.
• Requires Iowa driver’s license and Class A CDL.
• Emergency response position with 15-minute arrival requirement.
• Drug/alcohol screening and background check required.
• Apprentice lineman enrolls into IAMU apprenticeship program.
• Salary ranges $38.00–$44.00 per hour depending on qualification.

Responsibilities

• Construct and repair electric distribution lines, both overhead and underground.
• Operate and manage a variety of heavy equipment as listed in the job duties.
• Perform forestry and vegetation management tasks as part of line maintenance.
• Maintain licensing and comply with safety and background checks.
• Respond rapidly to emergencies as part of the on-call schedule.
