Job summary

Penn United Technologies, Inc. is seeking an Apprentice – Finish Grinder to join our Carbide manufacturing team in Saxonburg, PA. This hands-on role combines on-the-job training with a four-year, in-house certificate program, leading to Journeyworker title upon completion.

Applicants should have math and mechanical aptitude, be able to read blueprints, and perform precise grinding. No prior experience required; daylight shift with potential for other shifts.

Qualifications

• Must have math & mechanical skills/aptitude.
• Ability & desire to do precision work.
• Good reading of prints and understanding measurement tools.
• Regular attendance and solid apprenticeship performance.
• Knowledge of blueprint reading and micrometers/calipers is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Report on time and ready to learn and accomplish tasks.
• Attend on-site apprenticeship classes along with on-the-job learning.
• Learn to operate manual and CNC grinding equipment.
• Grind carbide components to exact blueprint specs.
• Read prints and determine dimensions for setup.
• Set controls or enter commands for machine operation.
• Ensure proper grade segregation at work stations.
