Job Description
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
As an Apprentice Bartender (Barback), you will be responsible for assisting the bartender and maintaining the appearance of the bar.
Position Status: Full-Time
Location: Gold Strike Casino
Responsibilities
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the bartender with the preparation of drinks, mixes, and garnishes.
- Maintain the cleanliness, sanitation, and appearance of the bar area.
- Maintain sufficient stock of all items and products in designated work areas.
- Ensure proper setup, labeling, stocking, and delivery of alcohol, and non‐alcoholic beverages, supplies, glasses, paper products, garnishes, and ice.
- Clean equipment, tools, and supplies, polish glassware and ensure equipment is in working order.
- Perform opening and closing duties based on shift assignment.
- Promote and maintain the highest level of service to all guests while staying alert to their needs and responding effectively to guest inquiries.
- Resolve guest complaints within the scope of authority; otherwise, refer the matter to management, and notify the supervisor and/or Security of all unusual events, circumstances, missing items, or alleged theft.
- Perform other job‐related duties as requested.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One (1) year of experience as an apprentice bartender working.
- Money handling experience.
- Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to multi‐task and work well in a fast-paced, team‐oriented environment.
- Knowledgeable of menu items, including mixing and serving beverages, standard beverage recipes, preparation methods, glassware, garnishes, products, menu items, supplies, and equipment.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
- Knowledgeable of computers and Point of Sale (POS) systems.
- Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and verbal forms.
- Excellent customer service skills and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all business contacts.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Able to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 50 lbs.
- Able to bend, stretch, twist, or reach out with the body, arms, or legs to perform tasks.
